Spend Less, Get More
Less Cost For Tuition & Textbooks;
More College Credit & Graduates
When we say, "Spend Less, Get More," that is not a cliche with us: It is a reality! First, the tuition charged by the colleges and universities in DegreeQuest are typically less than the national averages. We have cost-effective colleges and universities in DegreeQuest: As of mid-2016, of the 423 accredited colleges and universities in DegreeQuest, around 91.75% are state and community colleges or private non-profit or not-for-profit colleges and universities. We do have around 8.25% which are private for-profit colleges and universities, but many of them charge lower tuition rates that state colleges or non-profits / not-for-profits. Our goal, when supporting employees, is to empower them to earn the degree they desire without having to go greatly in debt to do so. For those who provide tuition benefits, employees, in most cases, are able to earn their degrees with our support within the allowable benefits that they are provided. We also empower those who are not eligible for tuition benefits to earn a degree at a fraction of the cost. How? With DegreeQuest, we maximize the application of the credit they have earned in the past to the curricula of degrees - the more we can apply, the closer to the finish line they will be and the more they will save. In addition, those who take advantage of our student support website, SOCRATES, are able to take advantage of the 500+ semester hours of tuition-free college courses from many of the nation's best universities; They can earn credit by examinations accepted by more than 2,900 of the 3,500 accredited degree granting institutions in the U.S. (that's 82% of the colleges that award credit by exams). When employees use SOCRATES, they can earn college credit at a cost that is 93% less than the average cost of tuition at state universities at the in-state rate across the nation. SOCRATES also enables employees and their family members to find their textbooks through dozens of low cost textbook providers linked therein and have their personal profiles matched to potential sources of scholarships and grants. As we mention on the Results page on this site, the support that we provide to employees also produces tangible results in the cost and time savings that can be tracked, measured, and reported to the organizations that we serve. When we provide support to employees, each receives personalized support with our professional intake specialists and counselors working with them to identify any potential source of college credit they may have earned in the past that could help them achieve their goal of earning a degree in the subject they desire. By doing so, we create a complete electronic record of each employee's past academic accomplishments.
Not only can we minimize loss of credit in transfer with the power of DegreeQuest, but, as advocates for the employees we serve, systematically stream all types of credit into degrees from accredited colleges and universities nationwide, including college credit for professional training at corporations and government agencies, credit for military training for veterans, college credit by examinations (with continued support as employees use SOCRATES to earn more using the tuition-free courses linked therein), college credit for professional certifications and licenses, and more. In the image below, we present an example of an employee that we screen captured this section from a degree plan of a state university in which they were willing to award 29 semester hours of college credit for his military training (as a veteran), corporate professional training (he had received instruction that was evaluated for college credit), and college credit by examination (as he had passed two College Board examinations). This is only one of several degree plans from accredited colleges and universities that we presented to the employee for consideration. This savings presented is not exported into the organization's activity report until the student compares each of the degree plans and selects the one in which he or she enrolls.
